When Paul writes that Christ “gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers,” he is naming something Jesus intends for the church’s formation.
The gifting with the evangelist is often reduced because culturally we have a mindset of evangelists sharing a “Gospel presentation” so that people meet Jesus. They’re gifting is as much about spreading the word and building networks of relationships as it is about Gospel Presentations. And it’s a really important component for movements. 😁
